The Management of Akwa Ibom state Polytechnic has announced total ban on activities line up by final year students to end their stay on campus .
It was gathered that final year students in the institution have already prepared for signed out fan fare before the Polytechnic management decided to cancel it ahead of the last day when students were expected to display their joy for completing their academic journey in the institution.
According to the Director of Socials in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies Comrade Victor Ekpo , the students have purchased Ankara uniform to be worn on the last day of their examination and display on campus.
” Yes we have prepared for our sign out but the authorities have banned us . No problem . We will abide by the rules and regulations of the institution”
Investigation revealed that the students have embarrassed management of the institution by appearing half nude the day they wore ” back to school uniform” which they recap their days in primary and secondary schools with various school uniforms as girls put on mini skirts, panty hosts, and other sexy fashion in their exam halls.
In a circular dated 15th September and signed by the Acting Registrar Ibanga Nathaniel made available to Journalists in Uyo stated the signed out fan fare which has become a norm for final year students has been banned with immediate effect.
The circular reads in parts:
“The Polytechnic Management has noted with dismay, the unacceptable celebrations commonly known as “Graduating Students’ Sign-Out fan fair”, organized by students to mark their graduation or last stay in the Polytechnic.
“Management has also noted that such activities have been going on in the Institution recently and have received complaints from various organizations on the abuse of their professional outfits.
In view of the above, all graduating students are to note that these activities are unacceptable by the Management, as they violate the Polytechnic’s rules and regulations. Management henceforth *BAN* sign-out celebration by all graduating students of the Polytechnic”
It therefore stated that any student found to have violated the ban will face appropriate sanction.
” To this end, Management wishes to state categorically that any student(s) found contravening this ban will face severe disciplinary action in accordance with the Polytechnic’s guidelines”.
